Sunlight streamed through the window of our beachside Barcelona spot, and Maité stretched her arms out, looking around before asking, “Who’s gonna roll up?” She let out a quick laugh, then got to work herself, sitting next to Lilli who was already sealing the deal. Standard day in the life.
By this point in the trip, we were all deep into the grind. But Maité and Lilli decided the beach wasn’t just for looking at. They figured it was time to celebrate the hard work of the last few weeks before heading out. Torsten, Patrick, and Lau, feeling brave, stripped down and dove into the chilly Mediterranean. Sure, the sun was out, but it was like 15°C, and the rest of us weren’t about to freeze for fun. Maité dunked her head in and somehow convinced Lilli to follow suit.
That’s the vibe with them: always messing around, pushing each other, like they were sisters in some past life and now they’re teammates. Maité even asked me to jump in, but thankfully I had the camera as a good excuse.

First spot of the day was the bank-to-wall. Lilli went straight for her usual switch wallride, smooth as hell, like watching poetry in motion. Maité, of course, had to choose the weirdest thing at the spot—a pole sticking out of the bank, wobbling side to side with a phone wire running up it. Every time, she finds the most unexpected thing to ride. It’s insane. I just sit back and wonder what she’ll do next.
That’s how the whole day went: hit a spot, someone has an idea, fight for a clip, get in the van, move on to the next one.

Lilli Werner - Sw Wallride
Lilli rips hard and fast. Her run-up takes the whole sidewalk, and jumping onto her board in switch, she slams into the bank at full speed, carving up the wall like she was born doing it. Torsten’s fisheye catches the whole rainbow of her style.
That’s how the whole day went. Hit a spot, someone has an idea, fight for a clip, get in the van, move on to the next one.
By the end, we were beat, but in that satisfying, “this trip was worth it” way.

Maité - Nosepick Indy
By the end, we were beat, but in that satisfying, “this trip was worth it” way. We piled into the van and went straight to eat some bomb seafood paella. Maité destroyed an entire dorada like a pro, and Lilli shared a huge paella with the crew while we all drowned it in house sangria.

Back at the team house, stuffed and content, Maité and Lau showed us this wild Dutch comedy, New Kids Turbo. Let’s just say, this movie wouldn’t fly in today’s world, but we all had a good laugh.
